The Start of the Taste
The setting of ‘Joseon Chef Han-Sanggung’ is at the end of the Goryeo era. The narrative unfolds as Han-Sanggung, a court lady from Suragan who left the palace, settles in the Nammoonjang of her hometown, Jeonju. Despite the dark times, she builds friendships with the steadfast people of Nammoonjang and Nam Sang-in of Pomokjeom, opening her eyes to the true taste and value of food.
One day, malicious figures threatening the market suggest a World Food Competition, putting the Nammoonjang’s market at stake, thereby jeopardizing the livelihoods of its people. Can Han-Sanggung, who is striving to be the hope for the fallen Nammoonjang people, protect the taste and reputation of Jeonju and save the people of Nammoonjang?
