The Sori Culture Center is newly opened as Daesaseupcheong
Jeonju Daesaseupnori Competition, with history and tradition, started in Jeonju during King Sukjong’s reign and is held in Jeonju every year as the most distinguished Korean traditional music competition.
To expand the base of Jeonju Daesaseupnori and provide the space for various traditional performances, the Sori Culture Center was renovated to Jeonju Daesaseupcheong in 2021.
Four Gunjajeongs were newly founded in accordance with the installation of the Association of Local Entertainers and Daesaseupcheong for Singing, Dancing, and Musical Instruments in 1732 (the 8th year of King Yeongjo’s reign).
Jeonju Daesaseupnori has been held every year since the first competition in Jeonju.
Daesaseupcheong is the space of communication between citizens and for foreign tourists to enjoy Daesaseupnori continuing its deep-rooted tradition with a long history of over 300 years.
