Jeonju Civic Choir – Songs of Victory, Glory, and Love

The Jeonju Civic Choir presents a moving performance, “Songs of Victory, Glory, and Love.”This concert explores the noble values found in human life—victory, glory, and love—through choral works from various periods and genres, delivering a profound emotional resonance.

The performance is led by conductor Kang Youngsuk, who studied choral conducting at Sookmyung Women’s University and Suwon University, and furthered her studies at Accademia d’arte lirica and Accademia Roma in Italy.With her refined and expressive interpretation, she guides the stage with both sensitivity and depth.

The concert is composed of four stages, each presenting a distinct theme and atmosphere.Part 1, “Two Settings of the Te Deum,” features works by Hasse and Haydn, showcasing the grandeur and solemn beauty of choral music.Part 2, “Contemporary Gloria,” presents Bob Chilcott’s “Gloria,” highlighting the rich colors of modern choral repertoire.Part 3, “Songs of Love,” expresses various emotions of love through Korean art songs such as “First Love,” “Azaleas,” and “Majoong.”Part 4, “Songs of Joy,” concludes the concert with a bright and lively finale featuring familiar pieces such as “Singin’ in the Rain,” “Bésame Mucho,” and “O Happy Day.”
