Introduction

Jeonju, a city imbued with tradition, culture, leisure, and the spirit of pungnyu, is a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy renowned throughout Korea for its exceptional cuisine.
Geographically, Jeonju is the largest hub for top-quality ingredients, offering a rich variety of produce and foodstuffs owing to its fertile land and wide distribution networks.
Historically and culturally, Jeonju was the ancestral home of the Joseon royal dynasty, and the culinary traditions of the noble families, marked by meticulous dedication, have been handed down to the present.
In 2024, “Jeonju Night Gourmet season 1” was held under the theme of “Jeonju Noble Wedding Banquet,” featuring demonstrations of traditional wedding ceremonies and offering guests an elegant full-course feast. Participants became honorary guests at a Jeonju noble wedding, enjoying a new and immersive culinary experience that was met with great acclaim.

 

For 2025, “Jeonju Night Gourmet season 2” is planned as part of Jeonju’s night tourism program, featuring special nighttime gourmet content unique to the city. The event centers on “Traditional Spirit Dining,” where guests experience a full-course meal—from appetizers to main dishes to dessert—paired with traditional cocktails based on Jeonju Igangju, one of the three great Joseon-era spirits.

 

We invite you to a special autumn night in Jeonju, where you can fully savor the city’s abundance of flavors and the Romance of Pungnyu.
