The Jeonju Hanji Culture Festival began in 1997 and aims to widely acknowledge the superiority of Jeonju Hanji, with a thousand-year history, find craft artists in Korea through the Traditional Hanji Crafts Contest, and contribute to the commercialization of Jeonju Hanji. The festival recognizes the variety of functions of Hanji in culture, expresses Hanji, which has been existing with people for a thousand years, and proposes and shares the visions of Jeonju Hanji.
The tradition and values connected to Jeonju Hanji are the best in Korea. When we talk about paper, Jeonju Hanji comes to mind first. It’s Jeonju Hanji that has been used to record the history and cultural heritage of the world. The festival has been secured as the event that continues the tradition of Jeonju Hanji and widely promotes the superiority of Jeonju Hanji around the world.
A wide range of exhibitions and experience activities, including the Korea Hanji Crafts Expo, where the best Hanji crafts artists in Korea compete, are profitable and practical.
