The Donggosanseong Fortress, a site of the Later Baekje, holds a tranquility as if time has stopped

Donggosanseong Fortress was established by Gyeonhwon, the founder of Later Baekje, amid political turmoil in the late Silla and early Goryeo Dynasty. Gyeonhwon used Donggosanseong Fortress as a defense facility while establishing Later Baekje in 901 and making Jeonju the capital. This fortress served as an important defense base for Jeonju and continued to play an important role in various historical events. Donggosanseong Fortress was established as an important military base and political symbol during Gyeonhwon's reign. The circumference of Donggosanseong Fortress is 1,712m, and it is a relatively large-scale fortress that extends 314m in the east-west direction and 256m in the north-south direction. Girinbong Peak is the second of the four gods, Woo Baek-ho (Girin), and is a place where people perform ancestral rites to the gods. Girin Towol, one of the 10 scenic views in Jeonju that refers to 10 beautiful scenery near Jeonju, is a beautiful moon rising above the east of Girinbong Peak and is considered the first scenic spot in Jeonju. Girinbong Peak is the highest mountain in Jeonju, and the foot of the mountain spreads north and south.
