In September, when the subtle scent of books is carried on the cool breeze, a variety of book-related programs are operated, including lectures, performances, exhibitions, hands-on activities, and a book market, under the theme "The Moment of Turning." As one carefully turns page after page, our thoughts expand, and a moment arrives when we face a wider world. It is a participatory platform connecting books and culture, where diverse reading-based events unfold, such as opening ceremonies, author lectures, book concerts, book markets, exhibitions, and experience booths, allowing all generations who love books to participate together.

Night Walk The night of Jeonju, a millennia-old city, shines even brighter embracing its heritage.

Jeonju is the royal capital of Later Baekje and a city that preserves the roots of the Joseon Dynasty. the stories nestled within it reveal themselves more clearly at night. The Jeonju National Heritage Night Walk is precisely this special journey that illuminates the city's time with light and guides one through history and culture. Historic sites such as Gyeonggijeon Shrine, Pungnammun Gate, Jeollagamyeong, and Omokdae Pavilion are illuminated with a curtain of light during the festival period. This year's theme is 'A Night of Heritage with Eight Storytellers'. Each space is brought back to life through storytelling and performances, allowing visitors to travel between Jeonju's past and present. This night walk, where light guides the way and stories leave memories, completes Jeonju's dignified night.

Jeonju Mini Jazz Festival The city’s night, drenched in jazz.

In Jeonju, where the sounds of tradition live and breathe, another musical heritage adorns the night sky. It is the Jeonju Mini Jazz Festival, Jeonbuk's only specialized jazz festival. This festival, celebrating its 4th edition this year, is themed "Passion and Romantic: The Most Beautiful Era of Jazz" and can be encountered every Friday or Saturday from July to October. Each performance is themed around styles representing the golden age of jazz, such as Swing, Bebop, Hard Bop, and Cool, offering deep immersion by paying homage to albums of iconic jazz musicians of the era. Notably, this year a special stage featuring famous overseas jazz musicians is also scheduled, which will further enrich the festival.

Held in Jeonju, the homeland of tradition, this festival presents Hanji not merely as a craft material but as a medium connecting culture, art, and industry, showing the evolution of tradition across eras. Just as Hanji embodies devotion in every touch, this festival quietly yet profoundly conveys both the weight of tradition and the potential of the present. Through diverse programs such as Hanji fashion shows, Hanji production demonstrations, craft experiences, exhibitions by domestic and international artists, and craft markets, Hanji becomes an art that expresses the present moment, beyond being merely a 'record of the past'.
