Hidden Scenic Viewpoint Embracing the City
Girinbong is a small peak of about 250 meters, located on the southern ridge between Samcheon-dong and Hyoja-dong in Wansan-gu, adjacent to Geonji Mountain. Its name comes from its elegant, flowing ridgeline that seems to cradle the city—resembling a “giraffe” lifting its head toward the sky. The gentle slopes and dense forest make it an accessible hike for all ages, and the trailhead begins close to residential areas, offering convenient access. The walking path consists of dirt trails, wooden steps, and viewing decks, revealing different landscapes each season—azaleas in spring, lush greenery in summer, vibrant foliage in autumn, and soft sunlight through bare branches in winter.
A Scenic Viewpoint Overlooking All of Jeonju
At the summit observatory, visitors can take in sweeping views of Jeonju’s cityscape, the Jeonju Stream, and even the distant ridges of Moak Mountain. At sunset, the sky glows red, tinting the roofs of Hanok Village and the flowing Jeonju Stream—a sight that draws photographers to gather. From the mid-trail rest areas, views stretch toward Samcheon Stream and Hyoja Park, and the breeze at the top refreshes weary minds. Girinbong is a hidden scenic spot where visitors can feel the rhythm of nature and the sky within the city, serving as a daily healing trail for Jeonju’s citizens.
